TN2: Native Tree ID
Wednesday, July 6, 4pm – 6pm
Wilderness Station, Barfield Crescent Park, Murfreesboro TN 37128
Instructor: David Arnold, TN State Forester

Please join us for an afternoon of tree identification and forest forensics.  The evening will begin with a brief indoor session to discuss and review tricks of the trade in tree identification and valuable reference materials that help develop tree ID skills.  Tree identification involves sight, feel, smell, and sometimes taste.  Most of the time will be spent adventuring throughout Barfield’s Oak/Hickory Forest property developing the senses and skills for tree identification.  Understanding how different trees take advantage of differing environmental factors and how forests respond to disturbance also provide clues in knowing “what tree is that?”

Wear hiking shoes and comfortable clothes for being out of doors in July.  Recommend bug spray, hat, sunscreen, and water/snack.
