The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is teaming up with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to provide instruction on the life, ecology and conservation efforts of our native mussels. Join us as TWRA mussel biologist David Sims conducts a 5- hour field class at the confluence of the Duck and Tennessee Rivers. Past surveys have found 35 species of mussels along one mile of refuge shoreline at this location making it the perfect place to learn about and identify multiple species.
REGISTRATION is available to current TNP Students and Alumni and open to the general public afterwards. Bring your lunch, water, shoes that can get wet and muddy, hat and sunscreen. Come prepared to get wet, at least from the waist down as we will be “toe digging” for mussels.
